A few months back I had been watching a circa 1973 yellow Yachtsman on eBay. I thought it was way over priced, the shipping was also high.  It was re-listed with the make offer option. One evening after a few bourbons, I decided to make a low ball offer (on the grill and shipping) hoping the seller would get the idea that they had the grill way over priced. I didn't have any hope that  I would get the grill. I got a response almost immediately that the offer was accepted.  I couldn't believe it.  I asked the seller if they needed information on packIng up the grill.  They didn't respond but did a excellent job packing the grill.I finally got it cleaned up and put back into action. Here are some pictures.

New grates

Getting ready for action.

Back in action! Pretty much all the flaws are in this picture, the rest of the grill is almost perfect.

Baby backs and tenderloin.

The reward. Sorry the picture is blurred. I guess I couldn't wait to get at it. Turned out very good.

Great job and awesome score! What's shocking me is the hinged 18.5 grate. This is only the second time I've seen one. Is this a new thing? Going to have to keep my eyes peeled for these grates.

Sweet grill and a smart move on the acquisition.

@Hybridtwin77 - hinged 18 grates can be found at many retailers selling Weber parts. They were available as standard on OTG models.

Great job bringing that thing back! What cleaning method did you use on the porcelain?
