I know what a MT is, and a OTS, OTG, SJ and a few others, but for the older grills, what do we call the variations? Did they ever have their own shortcut names? If not, I suggest this as a start:

MBH = Metal Bowl Handle - the ones with a wood lid handle
MLH = Metal Lid Handle - the ones with all metal handles, Like Brian's Grandpa
OFR = Old F#!*@! Ranch - like Brian's Mothership

It would be easier to refer to them in a trading post headline. Something like "NIB MLH Redhead in Deadwood SD - Free"

Now isn't that exciting?

""NIB MLH Redhead in Deadwood SD - Free"

Great......and save a picture of it so everybody else can see it, 'cause the dang Craigslist thing's gonna be GONE n 15 seconds.............. >:(

We ought to save pics of the more rare ones anyway,  even if nobody here grabs the find,
just to keep in an area on here for reference & the museum..............

Theres also
BBK=Bar-B-Kettle of the '80s/90s. All wood handles.
OT=pre 2000 OTS.....maybe that doesn't matter....but oh well.
OG=could refere to a '52. "Weber Diesel"

MartyG

I grab just about every picture I see on CL and Ebay. Many of them are hanging out on my Flickr group at the moment. Once we get a gallery going here I'll make sure they all show up somehow.

MartyG

Good ones Craig, but I think the '52 would be an "OMG".

Oh, totally.... I'm pretty sure a '52 won't even get an abbreviation until well after someone scores one and we all have a good, long hard perve. If Weber's were Playboys, a '52 would be the centerfold.

Yeah, no shit!  Don't even have to save it - just post it.  Ain't nuthin' worse than checking into a Trading Post ad and seeing this -

I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Was thinking about saying something in this section~~>

Kettle Club Discussions
Have suggestions for the site? Share them here! Unhappy with how something works? Let us know! Want to contribute content for the main site? Bring it on!

But not everyone wants to clog up their pic folders with stuff they won't need two days later.....

It would be nice if we could agree to do our best to grab the CraigsList photos for here, then just dump them at home.....doesn't take too much room on Photophuket, Flickr, etc. & a few minutes of time....

No need to.  I'll do a bigger post later (new thread) with screen shots, but adding pics from CL is super easy.
I haven't experimented with the iPad, but from a computer it's like this -

1) Hover the cursor over the CL (or any website) photo
2) Right click
3) Select Copy image URL
4) Come to the forum where you want to place the photo
5a) Type [ IMG ]http://paste the URL here[ /img ]  (no space between the brackets & IMG)
OR
5b) Click on the Insert Image button below the B (bold) button
6) Post

And then the pictures vanish some time after the post is deleted.

I really hate finding an old post with otherwise useful information where all of the picture links are broken.
kettles, smokers...

Not hyper-computer literate, but if I'm following you here, that creates an Image link, or a 'hot link' to WKC ?

Then I think maybe Hank's correct in that when the original disappears, then the link will disappear....
I've seen where people do something as simple as re-organize their photos on Photobucket & the posted ones show a grayed-out box saying: "Moved or Deleted by Author"

Saving to a temp folder on whomever's hosting site I think is a surer method, but I could be full of bologna also........ :D

But how much longer?  Take this post as an example  (edit) link only takes you to the trading post.  Better to copy/paste the full URL
http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/trading-post/otg-$25-washington-dc/
The photo is still there, but the original CL ad has been long gone.  For the average Trading Post ad, even a week would be helpful.  I wanted to check out a SS Performer that was posted today (CL link only), but it's already been deleted.

Absolutely agree.  But for the Trading Post, it's better than nothing.  Now, if it's a really cool item or useful thread - then yes, save it to the computer.

Ah, OK.....

So maybe they will stay for awhile, maybe a long while?

This is a good thing..... ;D
