Duke that's awesome.  I have some 30's Sears catalogs on a disk, I'll look through them and see if it's in there.  Very cool!
Thanks, I hope you can find it.

Here are a few more.

Anyone have any idea what this hanging thing is? It sits under the bottom of the steel plate that pulls out. I think the charcoal was supposed to sit on that. I was thinking it was for smoke wood. When it gets hot it starts smoldering?

  Oh that?
In the last pic, there?
That wired in little ding-a-ling that hangs down into or just below the charcoal?

That's a 1930's prototype BUG ZAPPER, of couse !!!

My Sears catalogs only go to 1918.  I will have to get some more.  Any chance of that being a vending cart for something.  I have seen a early 1900 peanut roaster's cart.  This does not look like a peanut vendor cart but I am just saying. (the peanut cart had a grill in it for roasting peanuts)

I have some early California landscape and house plans that date to the 30's and 40's.  Most of the "modern" outdoor/garden rooms they designed had brick or rock BBQ/fireplaces.  Any carts they had were designed to bring food and drinks in and out.

Isn't it amazing how one little thing or idea can send you in a whole new direction.

I believe it was designed for grilling because it has the ash catcher and grate. It was definitly meant to burn in and set food on.

If you said it was designed to burn in, I'm sure AJ just perked up....
