Thanks for sharing these assembly pics, Matt! Can't wait to see it in action. That pre taco handle 26er next to it isn't bad either.

Very nice!

I know I'm the very small minority but I wish there were a model that didn't have gas assist. I never use mine on my performers.

Also at that price tag I'm not sure if I'll ever get one.

My interpretation here is that Weber wants to showcase charcoal as a standalone solution similar to gas grills. Dump charcoal in, turn it on. We know there's more to it than that but that's the gist I think. But it would be interesting if the street price on one like this sans gas assist could be say, $1000. Just not sure the burner + box hanging off the side would cost $500 by itself.

What I'd like to see is a dedicated charcoal starter machine. Essentially it would be the standalone setup Weber uses in their restaurants, a rectangular frame for say, 2 chimneys with ash collection below the burner. Think turkey fryer burner stand but taller and adapted for this. I'd pay a few hundred for that because it could be used for any machine and would be more convenient than setting a chimney down into a kettle. Even better if it doubles as a "side burner/camp stove".
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Simply bad ass. Seeing that baby up against The Hedge makes me want one bad....Kevin Kolman posting cooks on facebook isn't helping either. And I had convinced myself I didn't want/need one of those. Shit.

I got the chance to look at one up close today.

It's definitely a great looking grill and I am looking forward to seeing the reputation for it grow as more people get their hands on one.

The good news is, my suspicions have been confirmed on a few things.

The outer bowl lower section is a 26.75" kettle.

So give them a year or so to distribute the new product, and I bet we can start getting that nice looking tripod as a spare part from Weber.

It might be too much to hope that they offer a "retrofit" kit for 26s, but it certainly looks like a possibility that we can eventually see a "Genesis" or "Spirit" version of this grill eventually.
