@Shoestringshop -  Amazing that you can have your hand on it while its running at 600 degrees!  Surprised no one else has commented on that.  It looks like with the top vent flipped up the SCG becomes a no vortex needed wing machine!  Thats pretty sweet.  I'm liking this grill more and more.  Still out of my price range but I might have to save up or use my tax return next year.....either that or really really hope my commission check I should be getting on the 15th is a whole lot bigger than any of my previous ones!

Also just saw a post on Webers facebook page that since this grill easily hit 600-700 degrees....using the diffuser plate lets you use it for easily making pizzas!

Yeah, it was pegged at close to 700 and all you felt was a little warmth! Fantastically insulated. Lid opened up like butter too!
Don't make me angry! You wouldn't like me grilling when I'm angry!

BluesDaddy

Nice post. I'll not be buying one, but appreciate the craftsmanship. I was hoping they'd come in around $700 to $800 range. Can justify $1500 to myself.

I'm going Sat to my dealer.  They will have 5 of them in stock and I get to check it out.  He said it is as big a XL BGE.  BEst thing is we will be grilling on it.  Can't wait.

They had Sportula Products so I bought my son the "Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sportula" and a few other items.

I'll tell you this store has so many things I didn't know I needed! ::) but now want!
Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

Very cool. How is the action on the lid? Is it spring loaded at both closed and open? What are your thoughts on the diffuser plate? It looks quite complex.
"Have you hugged your Weber today?"

I found the lid action nice and easy, it wasn't awkward. The diffuser plate looks good. I'm going to talk to someone in a few days to see how well low & slow works.

Shoestringshop

@pbe gummi bear lid is WOW! Very easy to use. The plate the owner of the store was using it and really liked it. I'll know more later once I cook on it!

Let me see if I can comprehend this. It's a lot to take in.

This proprietor not only stocks high end Weber, casually sports a nice Sequoia outside and a shit-ton of accessories and grilling doo-dads but ALSO has craft beer in the back?

I just ... wanna make sure I'm not misunderstanding, is all.

I ... I may need a moment.

@addicted-to-smoke ...you think you need a moment! The first time at the shop I almost forgot to take any pictures! That's why I went back. Oh and I will many more times!

From their home page,

"We also host grilling classes, wine dinners, and private parties. Our store is unique setting for your next party. In the summertime we have a wonderful outdoor patio so we can host your party outside. We have 2 plasmas inside and 1 outside so our store is a great place to host a party to cheer on your favorite team. We always have 2 great micro brews on tap and a fine selection of wines."

This, ladies, is how you freakin' do retail. These kinds of places won't be as cheap as Amazon, nor should they be.

I once worked in a higher-end (but not true high end ...) stereo shop in the early '90s. The owner would tell us, "We're not selling the steak, we're selling the SIZZLE."

As with so many things in life it's all about the experience.

Shut up and take my money
