I'm no welder, but it feels pretty well made to me.

Kettle was stable and should be able to handle a few more tri tips all at once.

Not true Santa Maria cooking, but a great Santa Maria "style" experience.

From the fabricator down in Paso Robles.

This will be added to the arsenal...

Dude, relax your chicken.

Looks like it'll be fun to cook with.

I've been watching that for over a year.  I just haven't been able to pull the trigger.

I like the look of that. A parrilla attachment for your kettle, very creative!

I think this might also be a suitable mod for a 26" or RK

Yeah, this parrilla is fun.

Looks really cool! Are you going to cook with some oak?

I used KBB, Cowboy lump and left over Coshell just to get heat with this trial. Coastal live oak / red oak is traditional for Santa Maria cooking, and I still have a couple small red oak logs from the Napa meetup. The next cook will be with oak, then I need to get my hands on some more    8)

I believe he offers an attachment for the 26er. Looks a little outside my price range though. But putting thing into perspective, it might not be bad.

Got to stretch the Santa Maria attachment's legs yesterday, after the Duke dropped it off for me to borrow    ;)   Grilled for 20 co-workers at the park. Beautiful day.
Sadly, I was so excited about the tri tip that I delegated the chicken out, and it suffered. I promised to pay more attention to the chicken next time.

But, back to the tri tip - it's confirmed - I DO like this thing!     ;D 8)    I'm gonna get me one of these! In fact, my boss wants me to pick one up for him as well when I do.

Picked up a 19.23 pound cryovac of tri tip @ $2.99/lb from Cash & Carry in San Jose. Un-trimmed. Got it home and found four good sized tri tip roasts inside - Perfect. Trimmed off a small tri tip worth of fat from the four    :(

Seasoned them with some Pappy's, bagged each one and stuck them in the Frigidaire.

Next day. Fired with Lazzari Mesquite...

The old man did a standup job...

The redhead in the back was full of corn...

Came out FANTASTIC!

Otis Spunkmeyer even stopped by...

Dude, relax your chicken.

There will be one in my future.

What else can I cook on it?

what else?

tri tip, and, tri tip.

Uh, tri tip?

Actually, anything you can grill on an open pit is game - burgers, chicken, steaks, dogs, tri tip...

Is the grill removable for cleaning?

you know I've never really been intrigued or even interested in this contraption.
i've even been annoyed at how this product used to be spammed all over craigslist...

but i'm curious now, especially after the slow'n'sear and kettle pizza have opened my eyes and killed my natural skepticism.

Yeah, like the SnS and the KP, it's just another tool to use. Like I have a PizzaQue for pizzas.

And we all know the kettle by itself can pretty much do it all.

But I really enjoy the process, it's a conversation piece, and I can't have a retangular SM grill in the yard taking up the space reserved for the  random MLH that comes along.
