I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel on an old portable kithen grill last time which wasn't difficult, but is there an easier way? Thanks

A good, beefy, flathead / slotted screwdriver.  Not a flimsy POS.  Plus you need some patience.

I have done this countless times.  And sometimes the plastic cap pops off before the metal insert is even close.

I pop the plastic cap off with a screwdriver. Then I can work the metal ring off with either the screwdriver or pliers. If you go slowly, you can re-shape the ring, pop the cap back on, and re-use them.

For sure.  I have been able to re-use every one that I have popped off.

This is interesting to me.  I've never tried to take them off so I didn't know they are difficult to remove.  I have had them just magically come of when trying to wheel two different grills around.  I suspect they were just never put on properly...they weren't my grills.

Same here. A little at a time and patience.

This is the way to go when removing the hubcaps. Use the wheel for leverage (make sure you're in between the insert's Weber lettering to ensure no accidental damage to lettering). Just insert tool under hubcap, then rock tool side to side & they come off smooth & undamaged.

Can find at any tool or automotive store for $5.00-$10.00 or on Amazon:

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

i pinch the axle and work the hub off by applying pressure to opposing sides of the hub in the off direction.  usually works in less than 10 wiggles.

I only use kettles with lid bales.
