I've always used my Masterbuilt electric smoker to smoke butts for pulled pork. It's so easy. It's like a crock pot for meat. However, after I got the SnS for my kettle I thought I'd try out a couple of butts and see how they compare.
I put them on around 11:00 am. It was a bit later than I'd planned but we decided to sleep in a bit. Sue me. The temp on the grill came up easily as usual. I got the meat on and let it go. The temp stayed fairly steady between 220 and 240. I did get a couple of spikes over 250, but no big deal. After 12 hours, the IT was right 200 so I pulled them off and let them rest for a bit, then got it pulled. Quite happy with them for a first try. I think practice would make perfect, so I'll have to do some more down the road. Now, here are the pics:
Holding steady and almost done.
Just off the grill.
I'd say they're done, wouldn't you?
Just so you know, you don't get this with an electric smoker.
The final result.
Thanks for looking!
