I picked up a used Weber fire pit from CL for $50. It was in good shape considering it had been left outside uncovered since the 1990's (according to the seller).

The lid, bowl, and heat shield were in great shape. Just needed a little cleaning. The ring had some surface rust on it. The wood handles were rotted to the point they were falling apart. I was too excited to get rehabbing it so I forgot to take original condition photos (rookie mistake).

I bought new original handles from Weber, as well as a hardware kit to replace all the nuts, washers, and bolts. Spent $50 for both.

I washed it all and scrubbed every part. I painted the legs and ring. I decided to keep the lid and bowl the original color since it was in great shape. I used spray paint for grill, we will see how it holds up.

So here is the final product!

Great job on the fix up - that has many years of faithful service left in it!

Looks good, really good. I'm impressed how well the bowl and lid still look for something that was irresponsibly left outside uncovered and neglected for 20+ years? It's also nice to see Weber products that are no longer being manufactured being saved, restored, and returned to service like this. Good job!
This is the original Weber kettle. The most powerful bbq grill in the world and can blow your taste-buds clean off! So, you have to ask yourself one question: "Do you feel hungry? Well, do you punk?"

Thanks for the comments everyone! I still don't understand why Weber stopped producing the fire pit in the U.S. It's one of the best made and durable fire pits on the market. I'm hoping to get another 20 years of life out of it.
