I was just curious.  I want to add a enclosed ash catcher on my kettle but I noticed that they are all silver in color now.   Is there any difference in the one that's are black.  Are they painted or just a different type of metal.    I like the look of those bit can't seem to find them online.

They are the same aluminum material but painted black. Any black spray paint should do the trick.

My bowl has a wrinkle texture, so wrinkle paint would be the most "correct"

Cool thanks for the info.  I thought it might of been porcelain coated for some reason..   I might paint mine I like the look with a black kettle!

Heyjude

They were only on Weber kettles for a few years.. They do appear to be a pebble like finish, but a gloss or any black paint would be fine. SOme members have painted them a color to match their kettle.. 8)

VHT makes a heat resistant (350 degrees) wrinkle spray paint that holds up very well.  I used it on a few occasions in automotive applications with good success.

Yes paint it any color you want but I would use High Heat paint. I'm not a professional painter but I think there is a procedure to painting aluminum.
