Missing Damper Locale?
« on: August 27, 2015, 07:02:21 PM »
Anyone own, seen, or heard of a damper vent not having the location (Wood Dale, Palantine, etc.) at the bottom?

The only blank vents we have seen with original rivet intact was a sky blue custom and the recently posted white "Custom custom". Does it have a solid triangle ash pan? ;)

Not too sure, I haven't gotten the chance to take a look in person or talk to the source directly.  I've been told it has wood handles but no letter code or locale on the damper.

Some of the economy kettle top vents are blank.

Oh yeah? That's probably it then if it has wooden handles...

Anyone care to give me the cliff notes on an economy kettle? Are those the Sears versions?

Here's one:

Thanks for referencing that @pbe gummi bear .  I was about to do the same.

It cleaned up nice.  "K" on the lid vent, and "L" on the bowl vents.
I replaced all of the hardware with SS nuts, bolts and washers.  Homemade wood handles using dowel …. I no longer have it in my possession.  ??? :-\

Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Thanks gummi...pictures are coming but the seller seems aloof, not holding out much hope.
