Vent hole blems

Any guess as to what caused these irregular vent holes on this EZ MT?

I never did ask the previous owner about them.

Did it leave the factory this way, and thus is THE RAREST OF ALL??!!!   ::)

It looks like someone used a file to enlarge the holes.  The enlargements are irregular in shape.  If they were perfectly rounded I would say it was a double stamping.

Could be. I wonder why someone would want to do that...I need to check for signs of filing around the lid holes.

+1. Maybe the PO wanted to do a low and slow and filed two vents down to aid in air control.
