Great write up!  I wonder if Weber will be offering the mastertouch gen2's in more colors than black in the future?

doesn't @pbe gummi bear have the only 14' version of the master touch out there?
I think a 14 ft dia weber kettle would set a world record.  ;D

Cool write up and thank you Winz !

Just pure speculation on my part but maybe with Happy Cooker on the market offering both a lid holder and easy clean ash pan , Weber countered with their own  versions of both features to keep pace and offer their customers these cool innovations.

Excellent write up there Winz!
I read it, and the next thing I did was start looking on Amazon for a MT.

That was a good read. I had no idea they were out of the lineup after 1999. The NEW 2015 is NICE, and the 1994 price of $160 to only $199.95 in 2015 it is a real bargain.

Thank you all for the comments.  I really get a kick out of researching so it is a fun project for me.  Big thanks to @mike.stavlund @Jeff @1911Ron @1buckie @pbe gummi bear @SixZeroFour and especially @Craig for providing information and photos for the M/T history page.

For those of you that are somewhat new to the site, we have additional articles on the Ranch, Smokey Joe, and Performer history.  They are located on the home page under the "Weber Grill History" section.  All of these are works in process, so if you have something to add, please PM me!

As @Troy indicated, there is much more to come.  He, Craig, and others have cataloged, what I believe, to be the most complete and definitive database of Weber history on the planet.

Excellent job on the write up! I wish somebody would do a write up on the history of the 26.75 Kettle. That's the one I want to learn about. I love the 26.75 kettle more than the 22.5, I always have.  I want to know stuff like: When were they first introduced? What changes were made through the model years? What colors were available? What accessories were available? How many incarnations were there such as the Westerner? When was the one touch system incorporated? What did they cost back in 19??, What model years comprised the "flat head" era, What year did the cooking grate size change? etc.

Seems like we have a history write up of every Weber model except this one?

I'm working on that one along with the 18 and 22s. It's coming. I promise! [emoji6]

great write up. I didn't realize they produced the mastertouch as late as 1999.
