I have a Gen2 Performer with gas assist.  I'm talking to a guy who has a beautiful Blue One Touch Platinum.    Is it possible to do a bowl swap ?   Is it safe to drill out a hole in the Blue for the gas assist pipe ?    Is there a way to successfully patch the hole in my current Performer's bowl to use it on the OTP ?

Yes, a bowl swap is straight forward. You can get bolts and a fender washer to seal up the hole. Installing a GA is pretty simple too, just take your time checking the fit and go slow: http://weberkettleclub.com/blog/2014/04/25/weber-grill-mod-adding-gas-assist/

Thanks for the link PBE!!   Didn't cross my mind that I could order the GA parts from Weber.  Now I'd have to decide whether to do the bowl swap and have a Perf w/GA and a OTP, or, do the bowl swap and have a Perf w/GA and a OTP with GA.

Decisions, decisions

Why don't you just buy the blue bowl and lid for a performer?

Because I'm thrifty and frugal, or cheap, depending on how you want to look at it. ;D   If I bought a blue bowl and lid, then I'd have an extra bowl and lid just lying around doing nothing.

At least this way, I'd end up with 2 nice and complete grills.
