Went to a family get together yesterday at my aunt and uncle's place.
Sitting in a grove of pine trees I spied a MBH 22.5" kettle. I took a look at it and it was an A date code.
My uncle told me that he used it to cook for his son's HS graduation and it has sat in the same place, unused, since.
21 years. Pine needles to the triangle.
$15.00 later it was in the van on the way to the Wyocena Yacht Club.
All of the vents work. The lid handle is shot. It's totally faded gray, and it's caddywampus. It has the correct ash pan.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it has been rescued and will cook again, somewhere, in the near future.
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

I didn't realize kettles were just one use items...hmm. I guess I've been doing it wrong all this time.
Nice rescue!

Interesting! How's the rust on it after 21 years?

Surprisingly, it's not bad. Bowl and lid handle welds are solid. Leg sockets are pretty solid, though a little more rust than I'd usually tolerate. No significant chips or dings. Very little rim rash.
