Charcoal bin on performer getting HOT on a high heat cook
« on: June 06, 2015, 01:04:01 PM »
anybody worry about their charcoal bucket on their performer getting hot when they do a high heat cook?  I'm getting the kettle up over 450 and I just happened to feel the wall of the charcoal bin and it is HOT. enough so that I yanked the bag of big blue and pecan chunks out of there while I cooked my pizza.

Old style or new style? I've seen melted bins on an ss performer before.

Keep on eye on your lid bale rollers.  There are susceptible to melting.

It's a 2015 performer.  Fortunately the lid bale rollers made it through...wish I could say the same for the pizza :-(

Yes mine are , looking for a fix that works better.

Thinking copper tubing. I nearly always set my lid on the ground so no worries of lid damage rubbing the copper. Mine lids not perfect by a long shot but it fits good

Wooden lid bale rollers are just the ticket for this fix.

Thought about that but figured they'd burn

Will try though got nothing to lose

Thanks
