Stupid cast iron question
« on: June 01, 2015, 03:26:48 PM »
ok, so I just got my Mr. Bar-B-Q wok and I need to season it in the oven (rain for the next couple of days outside).  Do I just apply vegetable oil to the inside of the wok or should I coat the outside/bottom as well?

if the whole thing is cast iron, do the whole thing.

also, flaxseed oil will give you the best seasoning

Question about this ...the weber accessories are pprcelain coated cast iron..so..you cant really season it correct?

Is there really a way to CI maintain the porcelain coated CI weber gourmet accessories.

My view was that they would porcelain fail and then rust out likebtheir food grates and flavorizer bars?

I'm not sure about the Mr Bar B Q wok. Pictures look coated, but reviews say no.

The weber cast iron inserts for the gourmet system are coated.
You can season them still, but it won't be as slick and durable as a true cast iron seasoning (but it will be much more forgiving when it comes to high heat, abuse, moisture, neglect, etc)

The reviews are right, the instructions that come with it say to season it before use.
