I think it should be okay, I know that acidic foods will do a number on your seasoning, but I still do stuff like that in my skillets

Do short cooks only with tomatoes. Iv had spaghetti sauce fark up the seasoning on mine, still ate the sauce though.

Rinse, brush & reheat ASAP.

A new preseasoned Lodge won't survive a tomato sauce. You'll soon see rust. Only a well-seasoned (or re-seasoned ...) DO works here. But if you keep hitting it with other foods soon after you'll be OK.

Without a super-good seasoning, frequent usage is by far your best friend.

That's why I bought an enameled cast iron pot from lodge.  No worries about sauces.

A lot of folks keep some foil liners around for a cook that might be hard on the seasoning in their Dutch ovens. They work quite well. See Campliner Dutch Oven Inserts.

Yes, but aren't those types a no-no on the grill (the presumed usage here)?

Acidic?
I use a vinegar solution to clean mine...
Dry it, heat it & I've seasoned repeatedly with Coconut oil (with Much Success)
I also store all my CI with layers of Newspaper between 'em

I wrap foil around the bottom of my enameled DO when I do drip beans and have never had trouble. I use a Le Creuset DO. I wouldn't be afraid of putting it anywhere in the grill, it's nuclear.
