It'd be a two hour drive, but I'd get (have?) to see my sisters who I haven't seen in a while.   Totally free otherwise.

Depends how bad the rust is.

The kettle steel is a fairly thick gauge..

What i find is after sanding some rust...sometimes you find rust through holes.

If it was free and didnt take me out of my way..id pick that puppy up

Grills

Idahawk

I'd pass on it , if that long of a drive was involved personally

Is that a hole near the handle?  That would be a tough-ish repair I think. Is the rest of the performer/platinum include or just that?

That's the hole for the thermometer.

but i probably wouldn't drive 2 hours for that kettle.
I only use kettles with lid bales.

Considering it is a performer bowl, I'd almost have to pick it up......especially if its already drilled for the gas assist.  Its just begging to become a really cool table project

+1 I think it would be worth inspecting if you can consolidate trips. It may never look new but I would venture to guess it would make a great cooker (assuming the OT area isnt shot.) Do you have any specific plans for it?

If you're going to be in the area, I'd pick it up. If you can't use/want the kettle, I'm sure you could take the straps that attach to a table off... those could come in handy. Perhaps a nice brownie performer could be made.....
