Wireless Temp Probe on Rotiserie

I've been meaning to do this for awhile.  I've always thought it would be nice to be able to monitor the temp of something on the spit.  Yesterday saw an iGrill Mini and just went ahead and picked it up.

Ran the probe wire through the handle side bushing and rubber-banded the transmitter to the handle and voilĂ !  Now I can monitor my Roti cook from inside.  I'm sure that this could be done with any wireless probe system.

It might be nice to figuring out mounting the transmitter on a weight wire.  The iGrill didn't want to stay under the rubber band.  It is light enough that it could hang from the probe connector.

Really enjoying your "they say it can't be done" attitude!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

nicely executed. Any concerns on the wire rubbing on the roti wall over time?

It was rigged in such a manner to not rub anywhere.  The wire was pulled taught enough that it didn't touch the roti wall on either side of the bushing.

Thanks Ken,

Mine doesn't either, although I think one could be added.  They are inexpensive.  This was on my Cajun Bandit Roti.

Won't that give you oscillating temperature measurements due to radiant Doppler effect amplified by the parabolic nature of the internal structure of the kettle? I'm worried about you Man. Your messing with nature.

I think it is relative to the position of the receiver with an analog signal.

My particular system is digital and immune to this.

Glad you thought of that. You could have created a reverse polarity inverted black hole. Kinda like what happens when you wire a light bulb backwards.

Good idea with the wiring. Gonna give that a try. Unfortunately I have a maverick 732. If you hear about any wormholes opening in Dallas that was me.

Dude. Clearly, he's using the proper flux capacitor to avoid any such compatibility issues. It's not as if he's crossing the streams nor promoting dogs and cats living together.
