Bone-In Ham On the Grill!!!
« on: April 30, 2015, 03:10:17 PM »
My niece loves “Pigs” but, not like all of us do ON A GRILL! So on Easter of last year I made one and dressed it up so it would look at her. After she yelled at me she did laugh about it. Now, I have made this each year for Easter for the last 5 years and everyone looks forward to it ;D. I save the bone part for an in-law and they take it and make split pea soup with the left over bone and meat.

*****  I always buy the Aldi Ham it is only $.99 per pound to $1.39 per pound *****

10LBs Bone in Ham
1 (20 ounce) Can Unsliced Pineapple
2 (12 fluid ounce) Cans Apple Juice
3 Tbsp Melted Butter
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
2-3 Cups Ginger Ale
1 Meat Injector
1 Spray Bottle
1 Med Aluminum Pan
1 Small Aluminum Pan
Apple Wood Chips

•   Preheat bbq grill to 325°F
•   Mix Apple Juice and Pineapple Juice in a cup add in ¼ Tsp Brown Sugar and continue to mix.
•   Place Ham in an aluminum pan bone down
•   Put 2-3 Cups Ginger Ale in pan with the Ham
•   With meat injector inject Ham with Orange, Pineapple, and Brown Sugar mix. (The More The Juicier)
•   If desired add one hand full of (Apple Wood Chips) to grill in a small Aluminum Pan and place over burners. I do 2 smoke sessions 1 in the beginning and 1 about ½ way thru
•   Place Ham on the grill and cook for 3 ½ to 4 ½ hours until the inside temp is 130° to 140°. Keep Grill at 300° to 325°.
•   After 1 hour add remaining Juices, Brown Sugar, and Melted Butter into the pan with the Ham, also at this time use Injector and with the juice from the Aluminum Pan inject Ham with the mixture. Use Spray Bottle hose and top and spray ham with juice from pan.
•   Each30 to 45min inject Ham and  spray with the mixture from the Aluminum Pan
•   When inside temp is 100° or so with a basting brush baste the Ham with the same the juice from the Aluminum Pan and dress with Pineapples
•   Let cook until inside temp is 130° to 140°.
•   Remove Ham from grill and tent with aluminum foil let rest about 45min to 1Hr.
•   Slice Ham and Enjoy

Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

That's a fine looking ham.

Suggestion:  Next time use old fashioned apple juice and Canadian maple syrup.

I'll have to put this on the shelf until I have some kiddos running around. Great looking porker there.
