That video is intense! Looks so good. Did you go with the Weber or Cajun Bandit? Did you do any research into the one you didn't get?

@austin87  this is the new version of the Weber rotisserie. It doesn't have the L brackets on the roti ring that sits on the kettle. The new version sits on the kettle rim. I did research both and was able to get the weber cheaper on Amazon Prime. A lot of the negatives you here about the Weber Roti is about the old version. I'm happy with it. You can actually what I mean in the video I posted above.

Nate,
Looks amazing.  I'm about to do my first Weber rotisserie later today.  Chicken is in brine at the moment.
How did you prepare yours and what, if any basting did you do\use?
My biggest concern is temperature control, but each cook give me more confidence.
The weather here in the UK is rather unsettled and rain and wind may also cause me a few issues but I'm going for it anyway. Umbrella and Gortex at the ready!

Chicken looks beauty to my eyes....nice colour and crispy.
"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

That's what's for dinner tonight!  How long did that bird take on the roti?

I don't know if Nate will be around  in time to answer before you cook your bird Grizz, so here is my take.
I have been using a full chimney of lump charcoal in my roti and leaving the cavity of the bird empty. If I cook one five pound chicken it is done in about an hour and a quarter. Two four-pounders take about an hour and a half.
A bunch of black kettles

Thankz
I used basic briquettes, and the cavity had 1/2 medium orange inserted.  It was  a small chicken, 3 lbs.  It was in  place for about  1 hr 30min , probably 15 mins too long. But it really tasted GREAT!  Thanks for the advice.
