Driving down the street to pick up my daughter from school, I could not believe my eyes.  There sitting out on the curb was an unappreciated charcoal gray kettle.  (pretty sure there was a heavenly light aimed down on it and angels singing as well).  My question is was this originally gray, is it an old black one that faded?  Any idea what year it could be?  It's not in that bad of shape.  It has metal handles on the sides, three vents on the bottom, and a wooden handle on the lid.  Looks like I have a summer restoration project.

Looks like a 1976.  I looked on a vent chart posted by MartyG, and it seems to be from 77.  Guessing it is faded black.  Still sweet.  Here's a pic of my vent cover.

Yep. Faded black. Never the less a great score and will make a great cooker!

A bit of elbow grease and that will look terrific!
There is nothing wrong with an old classic black...
