I have use the Weber Exterior Cleaner on my 2013 Performer and it was OK. It cleaned the light stuff but didn't do much on the really greasy or "baked-on" build up.

A buddy of mine recommended Krud Kutter Cleaner/Degreaser. Spray it on let it sit and the build up just wipes of. It's water based, biodegradable and NSF certified for food prep areas.

Sorry for the infomercial but this stuff works great. I think Lowes has a 2 pack on sale for about $7.

Weber also makes a cleaner called "Stubborn Stain Remover".  It comes in a bottle and is a gel type material.  I've used it on caked on stuff and it works well.

Update : used Mean Green & 0000 worked well accept for all the fine swirling scratch marks . I'll use 3M no scratch pads next time

I have used the 0000 with good success, but you have to go really light with it.  I could see how you could get swirls with too much pressure.  I try to avoid it if I can, last resort kind of thing.
