This is a 12 page brochure I acquired recently. There is no date listed but because of the kettles pictured and company location being at Wood Dale, I assume this came with a kettle sold in the late 50s early 60s. I love the statement starting on page 2..."Congratulations on your new Weber BAR-B-Q-KETTLE! Soon you will be performing feats of culinary magic that will amaze you."

It contains mostly recipes but does have a two page section on bringing your kettle indoors...."Treat yourself to the advantages of charcoal cooking year 'round". I wonder how many house fires that caused.

That last line on the bottom page, bottom photo tells it like it is.....

Damper in cover always remains open when cooking."

I also like #10 in the "Reasons" list ~~>

"Cover keeps dirt, rain & bugs off food"

It's interesting that it shows the standard ash pan in one picture, and the solid metal triangle on the bottom as well in another picture. Did it have both?

It also says chrome plated legs, not the usual polished aluminum legs. My Wood Dale doesn't have chrome legs...Does anyone else have chrome legs? I think Jeff's Galley Que does...

Thats a super sweet find, G! Must be around 1958 at the earliest since (as Brian pointed out) there's ash pans in one picture and a triangle ash tray in another, but refers to it as a utility shelf. I know that the 1964 catalog also calls the modern wire triangle frame a "utility shelf", so maybe it was a period of transition? $:-\$ Either way, this is an AWESOME piece of Weber history!

They definitely did a great job selling the consumer on the price of the Weber kettles as compared to a brazier or some other open top bbq grill in charcoal savings alone! I get at least 2 cooks (sometimes 3) out of my k-blue.

What we'd give for $1 10lb. bags of charcoal now. My wife would kill me because theyre'd be no room for anything else in our garage!
