Some Special Zav Handles
« on: March 10, 2015, 09:18:41 AM »
A parcel arrived yesterday that was loaded with some really cool @zavod44 handles.

PLUS while at the mini-meet in SoCal @Troy presented me a really special handle also made by Brian...

You need to check these out!! :o

Long grain Zebrawood:

Walnut Single Screws:

Walnut and Mahogany 2-Rivets:

End Grain Zebrawood with SJ bale lock:

And last but not least this amazing little beauty. I believe it is made of Padauk?? (Confirmed as Cocobolo) ... and possibly ground up unicorn horns? ;) This thing is really sweet. My camera isn't even doing the rich graining justice! The custom box is a work of art on it's own let alone the handle - Thank you both very very much!

Zav's badass handles have inspired me to try and learn how to make some myself... we'll see how that goes :)

Such a cool little piece of craftsmanship!

Thanks again guys,

Matt

@zavod44 - amazing work!  That end-grain Zebra wood is what I'd love for the special handles you're making for me!!

Matt, you've certainly earned it. Enjoy!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Those are gorgeous !!!!

Even the simple straightforward wood ones are extremely nice......wondering if Brian will get to the redwood burl at some point.....
