Advice - Good Deal? Weber 26"?
« on: January 16, 2015, 10:23:13 AM »
I have the chance to buy a new in box Weber 26" grill for $180. I already have two 22" kettles, an 18.5" WSM and a 22.5" WSM. Should I go for the 26"? If so, is that a good deal?  Or should I hold off?
Looking for Blue Mastertouch or Blue Performer.

Currently have: Performer (Green); 22.5 Mastertouch (Red); 26.75 OTG;  22.5 WSM; 18.5 WSM; Jumbo Joe; SJS (Green Uline); SJG (used for Mini WSM); Blue SS Performer; Blue MBH; Summit

That's almost half the price of full retail for you guys in the States I think. If you really want it I say go for it. Finding a NIB 26er for too much less is unlikely I would think.

Yes it's a good deal. With the collection you have you really don't need it. If you do a lot of big indirect cooks then it will be handy. When i have the whole family over I cook for 18. It's handy for me.

Buy it, that is a great price. I have a few 22" kettles myself and still use my 26" often.

I paid $150 for mine in lightly used condition. I don't regret it for a second. I don't use it a ton.....maybe 10-15% of my grilling, but I REALLY like having it as a tool in the shed. Especially when we are having company.  It's great to have the extra space. Also, I love using it for smoking small quantities of food.....1-2 racks of ribs, small pork shoulder, brisket flat, etc.  it's a much more convenient solution than dragging out the 22.5" WSM for a small chunk o meat

So, I was able to pick it up this weekend. It was brand new, in box, still with the packing tape on it and had an AH vent code. This is the first "new" Weber I have ever had. All my other ones I purchased were used.

The first cook I had was just a steak and some frozen veggies in a cast iron skillet. The 26" was overkill for just the steak and veggies, but I think I am going to love it. It is great having all the extra space.

Now for some pics.
