Sweet old grill. Original wheels and came with the ash pan  :) Third go around for a Chief.  The other times they made their way to other WKC members via cool trade.

With the thumbscrew Fleetwood and the Aristocrat.

There is the complete power trio!  All the 26 colors Webers ever made!  Too bad we can't get my blue in with them for that pic.
Kettle collector AND cooker!

Didn't we determine that there's also a Gray/silver 26?

Don't forget about the Westerner.   :)

I know the grill you are thinking of.  It's faded black.  I talked to Ed about the colors a while back.  Gray was not offered in a 26".

Who has the grill?
The only evidence I'll trust is an pam test.

This is the grill where a few have posed that question.  I asked Reilly about this color a while back and he couldn't find any documentation.  Of course that only means so much.

It was deemed by the elite that these are merely faded black and not grey

That's all I have to say about that!
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

I never heard anyone say it was a faded black, and I would have totally disagreed.   Grandpa is 100% a silver/gray grill from the factory.  Here is the 1962 catalog, you can clearly see the 26" is silver and the 22" is black to the right hand side.

Here it is in action on Christmas Eve

There are five official, 26 colors

   -Black
   -Red
   -Chocolate
   -Westerner
   -Silver

Curious question.  When did the Fleetwood change from Gray to Black?  Buckie has a black Wood Dale Fleetwood.  Maybe Craig will have some input.

I was told this was a 1962 catalog but I'm not sure it is?   Unless they made the black fleetwood in the early 60's then they made a silver one in 62 as a special, then discontinued it for 63?

just a wild shot in the dark

If you look at that 1962 catalog, the Fleetwood is a black and white photo. If you look at the description very carefully, it says "The Fleetwood"

"Jet Black lifetime porcelain finish" the description is exactly the same in both the 1962 catalog AND the other one here... 1963. Why it is in black and white and has that silvery shine for 1962? I wish I knew. But as kickass as a factory 26 would be and as much as I love Grandpa (and Grandpa is a sweet old grill) he's a very well seasoned/faded black turned silver-grey. Someone else on here has a very evenly faded black thumbscrew Fleetwood as well along with a matching faded SJ and an MBH 22 faded black.

26 colors (1960s)

Fleetwood/ Jet Black

Westerner/ Chestnut Copperton

Aristocrat/Red

1969-1979

Fleetwood/Jet Black/Black

Aristocrat/Red

Chief/Copper Mist/Chocolate

Your saying that the speckled silver finish in the catalog is black?
