Performer help 821001
« on: January 03, 2015, 03:20:39 PM »
Performer 821001.this is the kettle with the metal table. My question is I think when I was looking into one of these models before you had to buy a new adapter for the gas tank. I just wanted to see if I was right on this one..
Im concerned about if i need a new tank, where can i get one, and the new tank, will it connect still with current regulator?

Can you be a bit more specific with what type of tank you mean?

I found a new 5# tank at a local store so they are out there, i believe that it was $49. Make sure that the hand hold is opposite of the connection so it can sit on the hook for the tank.  I am not sure what you would need to do to adapt it to use a 22# tank tho sorry.

In the Seattle area, I found a tank place that recertified my cylinder, shot blasted it and painted it for $50. It is good for 12 more years. I think you can find them new for around $35, but not with the same connection, so you then need a new reg or adapters.

There is probably a place near you that will recert a tank for you. Look for fire extinguisher and or welding gas supply companies.  They should be able to point you in the right direction.

You can also check with U-Haul and other places that refill propane tanks-- they will often know who does recert work near you.  (And sometimes they will overlook expired tanks and fill them anyway.)

Kid filled my tank without blinking an eye.  They only notice the new OPD valve or not.

At a Chevron near me the lady pretend my '99 is '09 on a 20 lb. tank.  She nicely suggested I trade it in for a Blue Rhino refurb, which I have done now.  ;)

Yeah, Blue Rhino has been the recipient of at least one 25+ year old 20lb tank from me.  ;-)

My U-Haul never checked dates on my 5lb tanks until they were paid a visit by OSHA.  Then I needed to find the local refurb guy near me (Fairfax Propane, in Fairfax VA).  He did a 5-year re-cert for $8.

OPD valve. early on i saw a Perfromer and it said it took the old tank style.
I wonder if i confused it with that now they use those little camping  tanks right?
I was thinking the hook up was for the old OPD valve.

Yes the newer performers use the small camping style canisters
Is your performer the new model with the metal table or the older model with a stainless steel table?
(I'm no good with model numbers)
