Yes well done Jaycee !!! Great to finally see some pics
It sure is a beauty!!!
@Craig I think weber started selling kettles in OZ around 1975
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Beauty bloody find there....bet your blood pressure was up. I happened into a 26er a few weeks ago and found folks couldn't move fast enough to get out of my way till I made it to the sellers. My vote is to keep it as close to 1979 as possible regarding changes. Do enjoy that beautiful beast.
"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

I only mentioned the lid therm because I've been toying with the idea of adding one to my 26 but the purist in me says not to mess with history and keep mine 1970...

The thought of drilling a hole in a chief makes me sick! :o

Matt, which is why I don't do it...

Brian, are you referring to adding a lid bale or all of the above?

All of the above

I only asked because I thought I saw a flat top 26 on here that had a 22 WSM therm added.. Maybe my memory is foggy.

It was already drilled and beat.  It was a run of the mill black from the mid 80's.  It had seen a lot of action.

I'd rather keep my Chief and all Chiefs, 'Crats and 'Fleets all original or close to and score a new style 26"er as a modern variant to keep in the rotation. Having said that I like  the thought of a '15 26" with a shiny pair of vintage 8" metal wheels.

Oh cool. I swear I forgot that was yours. It is where I got the idea from but couldn't remember if it was you or someone else. I liked the look and the functionality. But I would agree that it suits a One Touch version that is more prevalent.

Stu ended up with it.  I put the big therm on my new 26 mini ranch...

Sweet! Maybe someday I'll find one like that and mod it that way. Back to the original topic, please show us more pics of the Chief in action! Look forward to seeing more of it!
