What is the kettle diameter tolerance? How to fix out of round?

I think you need to hear the metal talk before anything really happens
Clamps good idea but a hug is quicker and easier and instant

So, I have been focused elsewhere since that post.  A buddy of mine wanted to borrow my clamps for a speaker project.  I gave them to him today.  The kettle bowl has been clamped this whole time.

After 6 - 7 weeks, the kettle bowl is perfectly round again.  One I get my clamps back, will finish adjusting the lid.

The bowl was the one that was further off from round than the lid.  The lid now sits easily in all directions.

I'm glad it worked out for you, Pete. There shouldn't be a need to hold the clamp for weeks. The metal will always have a small amount of spring back but if you go slowly you'll be able to shape it without the wait.

Yea, I understand the bear hug technique.  The clamps I set didn't do it over a week or two.  I set and forgot them and found it worked over 6 - 7 weeks.
