Hi Guys.  Hoping for some good advice here.

I recently picked up a Performer used.  The two wires that go from the ignitor button to the actual ignitor have been cut.

Can I splice them, or should I get new?  I ordered a new ignitor from Weber and it arrived, but came without wires.

the igntor kit should some with wires, I would talk to whoever you ordered it from.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

I would call Weber to let them now that the wires are missing.

Contact whoever sold you the ignitor, and in the meantime yes you can splice the wires which have been cut.  I've done it with lamp cord and it worked fine.

I called Weber.  Turns out they accidentally sent me the wrong igniter.  They are sending me the right one, and a label to mail the wrong one back.

As usual, good customer service.

Right, I've never used my ignitor before on my performer - I don't have any gas for it yet - but how do you actually use it and what for?

Apologies for what may appear a very basic and rudimentary question!

Once you have your gas working the ignitor lights it for you , which then lights your charcoal .

Once you have gas for it,you turn the gas on and push the ignitor button, that sparks the gas and lights it, put your baskets or chimney over it and it lights the charcoal, once lit turn the gas off.
