Time to come forward. :)

Several months ago I traded for a mid 1960's Glen Blue Imperial.  Both parties were pleased with the transaction.  While I realized Troy was a previous owner, I did not realize how important this grill was to him (aka the "Meat Ninja" grill).

So, fast forward to August.  An Imperial Weber Wood Dale was made available via an Estate Sale.  My initial thoughts were to help Troy get the Estate Sale Imperial.  However, he balked at the idea and wanted me to give him the opportunity to purchase/trade for the "Meat Ninja" grill at some point down the road.

So that is when I put my plan into action.  With the help of a fantastic agent (non WKC Member), I would try and purchase the Estate Sale Imperial and pass the "Meat Ninja" grill to Troy for some WKC shirts and stickers.

Well, the Estate Sale Planner told me a couple days before the sale he received 35 calls regarding the grill.  He said "the buyer would have to be #1 or worst case #2 in line at the start of the sale".  My agent arrived at the house @ 11:00 pm Thursday (the sale started at 9:00 am on Friday).  He waited for 10 hours and never once complained as we were on a mission.  We kept in constant contact throughout the evening and into the early morning hours. That night was a lot of fun!! The agent made it know to all arrivals that he was number one in line and was there for the Weber grill.

In the end, the agent purchased the grill and Troy received his beloved "Meat Ninja" grill.  I was very happy to pass it along to him!  Hell, I had two Imperials at the house for several days....

Special shout out to an Agent who gave me some sound advice during the transaction!  You know who you are.....

and Troy..... I wear a large.....LOL

Very nice. Perhaps the 2015 MT will be available in that color long shot, but oh well it's good to dream.

thanks for finishing the story.
I'm glad to have the wood handled imperial back - leaving it behind was a pretty big regret of mine.

I'm Gobsmacked !!!! That's gotta be the best two grills I've ever seen!!!
I've heard of people camping out for concert tickets or the release of new apple products but never a grill!!!
That's gotta be another symptom of the itis
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Here's what the wooden handled imperial looked like when I first picked it up (November 3, 2010)

It was in pretty terrible shape. The outside markings was scuffed and rusty - not just dirty.
The caked on filth on the inside was so thick that I couldn't even put my finger through any of the vent holes.

Great teamwork, awesome Imperials! Troy I'm glad you got her back. Stephen, that MLH, WOW! Awesome job all around.

This is the last picture I took of your grill before boxing and dropping it at Fed Ex.  A beautiful grill.

Heyjude

Now that is a story you tell your grandchildren.. Very nice gestures by everyone involved.
And we all owe a debt to the unsung agents in our lives..

the grill is, literally, the grill that started it all.

it sparked my passion for old webers.
it connected brian, jeff, me, shaun, aj, craig, lawrence
it ignited new types of conversation at the bullet
small fires of controversy rose between our new passions and the bullets old ways.
shit went nuclear.
when the smoke cleared, WKC rose from the ashes.
