About two months ago I came into a grail. One I've wanted for a long time and as luck would have it and with the generosity of Alvin (Argentflame) and Shaun (Duke) I was able to secure this piece of Weber history. When I got it, the rear handle was bent upwards, it came with no legs, no ash pan, and no triangle or wheels. However I came into some period correct donors not long after. This one has some character, the handle is turned towards the vent and the lid hook is in the "modern" position under the lid vent. It is missing the turn tab on the lid vent and two of the daisy wheels. I made some replacement turn tabs for the two daisy wheels out of angled aluminum. Here are some shots, The Statesman "Hunters Pink" (Red) Wood Dale era.

While I waited for the donor pan and wheels, i had some fun

Rear handle (before)

After carefully straightening (I experimented with some touch up paint just on the rear and lid handle) otherwise this one IS a cooker. So I didn't go for a "full restore" cosmetically. 51 years old, it's allowed some character. :)

Here it is next to my 1979 red. The Wood Dale reds have more of an orangish hue to them compared to later red kettles.

As I said, she's a cooker!  ;)

"Cooked on it that night!" I did! And here it is

Here's tonight's cook. Simple and to the point.
