1st cook w/Weber WSM 1880 and my new Comal
« on: September 01, 2014, 06:53:46 PM »
Crossed off 2 things off the To-Do List today.  1:00 PM Started up the Little Guy for the first time.

Since it settled in at 255 at around 2:00 it has ran steady between 250-270 right now at 5/12 hours it's stuck at 264.

Almost a whole pack of Thighs.

1 1/2 later Done.

Bought a Comal a couple weeks ago after seeing TonyBel on BBQ Brethren cook on his.  Just wish I had discovered this along time ago.  If any of you SoCal guys want one there are several vendors at the Cypress Swap Meet $35.

Getting the Kettle ready.

5lbs Carne Asada and 3lbs of Pork Al Pastor.

The Comal is awesome.. Is it just sitting on the handles?
And just how many briquettes are in there?

Nice looking grub...  8)

The Comal is sitting on the grate.  Sitting on the handles it rocked and I didn't like that.  Full chimney of unlit and 1\2 chimney lit.  Seemed like the right combo and it worked out great.

I love the idea of the comal. Any ideas on how not to get it to wobble?

Looks awesome Fedex!  That does look like a lot of coal to me on the Perf.

Maybe just flip the grate upside down when using?

Not adding coals really, so that might work......if it's a flip-up, just line up the flips with a bowl tab or two........

You got the hang of the Tonybel inspiration...that guy can cook& so can you.....looks real good !!!!
