Hi.  I've got a line on a good deal Performer right now.  If the guy gets me an address, I'm off to go get it.

Is it possible to take one apart easily and get it into a car?  I have one, but bought it already assembled, and had a truck at the time.

Is it an easy operation to disassemble quickly?

Not absolutely sure, but I know if you have a Phillips & a Cresent wrench you can take out the bowl & get some space saved that way.....as far as the whole frame, that's a bigger deal.....

looking around here to find somebody who knows for sure....what size car.......?

VW Passat.

I just heard back from the guy.  It listed today and I tried to reach him all day.  It is sold.   :-[

I'm bummed.  What a sweet deal.  It was an hour away, and I was ready to roll once I heard back, but someone closer beat me to it.

I was starting to think that there are no deals to be found up here in Canada, but I now have hope.

Thanks anyway Buckie.

I've also learned to not just search "Weber".  you have to do some digging around.

Hey Lerxst, keep at it, you'll find one. When I lived in Toronto for two years working on my doctorate I got lucky on Kijiji. I found a mint condition Crate and Barrel Performer with a cover still in the box for $150. I also found a pretty good brownie for $20. I got another Performer for a $175 I think and it came with a Ribolator. I fixed it up, sold it and basically got the Ribolator for free. I bought a 26 inch kettle also but cleaned it up and sold it for a $20 profit. Just keep watching.

Do searches with Webber, Weber charcoal, and even charcaol BBQ. You'll get all kinds of spellings so try 'em all. For the Crate and Barrel Performer I think I put an ad in Kijiji saying I was looking for a Weber kettle grill and the guy contacted me!

A SS performer comes apart with a 7/16" wrench/socket. A socket is best for speed. You should bring pliers and/or a second 7/16" wrench/socket to hold the kettle bolt nut on the other side of the frame. The newer performers will also need a #2 or preferably #3 screwdriver for the hardware. It is best to keep these tools in your car so you will always be prepared to pick up a performer. Good luck!

A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I've taken apart 2 of them to haul home in my 3/4 ton Accord. Cordless drill with a phillips head and a small versatile tool box. Takes about 10 minutes or so.
