older kettle
« on: July 05, 2014, 09:55:22 AM »
ello all.
The other day coming home from work I saw
A gentleman was putting out his garbage and this included 2 grills  one of them a red weber with a wood handle on top steel on the aides along with 3 bottom vents. In really good shape. But no serial number says patent pending. Also he was throwing out a smokey Joe will rh wood handle like new.
I stopped and asked about them he said to take them. I asked why he was throwing them out. He said he preferred gas.
So anyway. I never seen a smokey Joe with wood handle on it
I am assuming the red kettle is from late 60's. But not sure of the Smokey Joe. Any ideas?
I cleaned up the red one. Only tool about 20 min.
I'm gonna do a cook on it tomorrow. Just got to figure out the vents on bottom. My weber otg has the lever on it kind of easy to operate.

Hammer......at very first, the forum was able to 'store' photos directly from your computer, this was quickly overrun & the storage overloaded......

Now, it's like most other forums, in that you use PhotoBucket or another free hosting site like that......if you're familiar with this, then see here:

If not, then check back in & we'll help you get it set up.....pretty easy, actually........... :D

Welcome, hammer, and congrats on the scores.  The price was certainly right!

Be patient getting those photos posted, and I'm sure the experts around here will date those kettles as well as is humanly possible.
