I own both the 1972 and 1979 editions of Barbecuing the Weber Covered Way. It's a great cookbook with some great recipes and some great shots of our beloved kettles and accessories. Of course there were some revisions to the photos taken, some stayed the same, some were color edited for 1979 (i.e. red and avocado SJ's were "blackened" and some avocado kettle photos were re-used but tinted darker green) Red Smokey Joes must have gone away until sometime in the '80s. Some shots were completely redone. Here are some with more to come.

Nice! Now I know what the hole in the bottom of my gasser is for. My grease cup is missing.
I thought it was a pilot hole to light with a match...

In that waterfall picture, what is that big giant black kettle with 2 handles? I've never seen one that big before? Looks like an early version of the ranch kettle?

That old Ranch kettle was also called "The Animal" at one time early on. I have some paperwork somewhere showing that. Just a matter of findiing it!

Nice kabob ring set!!! According to the 1964 catalog I downloaded, the Kabob rings were available then. They were dropped prior to '79. Someone on here had said 1963-1977 was time Weber made the ring kabob set. I'd love to get a hold of one of those. I'll load more pics when i get some more free time. Just came in from Halloweening with my kids and wanted to check in.
