The last few...

1972/79 Guy basting a turkey on a redhead. Who says you can't use a Weber kettle in the Winter!?

1972 & 1979 color edited "Lambshank Redemption"

1972/79 Lobster & Tails. Oops, they left this one Avocado for '79. :o

1972/79 Suckling Pigs

1972/79 Roast w/ Corn 'N Taters

Brandy Ice! This was in both versions, I want to try this!!

One more Bigger Shot of the Waterfall Kettles for better close up observations and thats about it! Appears that the Ranch had already gone wood handle by 1972. But the catalogs from '72-73 show metal lid handles.  ??? Note the taller handle on the 1979 brown gasser, like the one that Narps83 posted on here :

Nice kabob ring set!!! According to the 1964 catalog I downloaded, the Kabob rings were available then. They were dropped prior to '79. Someone on here had said 1963-1977 was time Weber made the ring kabob set. I'd love to get a hold of one of those. I'll load more pics when i get some more free time. Just came in from Halloweening with my kids and wanted to check in.

That would be me, I sent them some photos & a gal from CS e-mailed me back w. some info which I'm beginning to find out may be a rare occurence.........
I think that particular style could have even been a smaller window, with the 'set-on-the-grate' style being a later incarnation, anyone know particulars about that ?

Those are some nice cooking setups in a lot of those shots.....
Here's one I found on the Weber site, whole hog on a Ranch

I have another, larger one that was done all in pieces which filled the whole thing......
(can't find the pic right now)

Thats a blistery piggy!! I'll bet it tasted good! The current kabob set, the cheaper one currently available, not the "Style" one I mean to say (I bought one new this summer), and is the one pictured on the 1979 blue kettle Kabob chaper, was around in at least 1977. I have seen several early vintage 'current style'  6 rod set ones on Ebay that are still new in the box with the pictured black metal handle kettle /orange frame box art and the 1977 copywrite date. My guess was that Weber replaced the ring set for these around that time? I didn't know there were 2 sizes of the ring kabob sets?  ???

Way Cool.....a 22-1/2" pig !!!
I always wanted to do a fairly large size one, in parts, spread over several kettles.....

@ Duke, It looks like it's just sleeping.  ;D. As much as I love pork, its kind of creepy to see the pig's face when they're cooking away on the grill. The one from the cookbook looked mean!

I wonder how many times if any, did a kettle or two tip over the falls by accident before they got them positioned just right and when they did it again 7 years later, the guys in charge of setting them up might have thought to themselves, "ah sh*t, not this damned waterfall shoot again!"  :o BTW, I like the '79 shot better only because they picked a better time of day to shoot it and the kettles stand out nicer with the sun directly on them. The '72 waterfall, though cool, is more like a "Wheres Waldo?" when I dentifying the grills. The red '72 Smokey Joe looks doctored.....with some red outside it's edges.

I just noticed also, in the same photo (1972) the Copper Mist 22 at the far upper left has the legs on all cattywampus!

I was just thumbing through my (first edition first printing*) copy of the 1972 "Covered Way" book, and noticed the SJ avacado, which I can not recall seeing before.  The question is, has anyone here seen one in person?  Do I recall that Jeff has one?

Also, just a good old fashioned bump of a nice topic with exellent photos.

Nobody has one or has ever seen one since the seventies. The color was called Sage and it's the same color they used on the green kettle gasser on the other page. It's almost an army green and it's solid and not a 'mist'.

OK, yeah, I saw the gasser too.  I thought sage was lighter.  Didn't they call one of the newer greens used on specialty performers "sage" as well, only it was a light green?

Suprised we have seen none of these green old SJs or Gassers. Something to look for!

Correct, they did. In One Touch Platinum. It looked more like a non mist-avocado. Jeff did some comparison pics with one of his cados. As for the 1970s sage (Army) green....... its a sweet color SJ/Gasser that has yet to come out of hiding.

Oh and BUMP!
