Grillfellas: They are out there.
« on: June 01, 2014, 04:28:35 PM »
Many on here already know Bman isn't lacking for grillfella street cred, but I just wanted to give him a shout out. I had the pleasure of meeting Bman today. He gave me a great deal on his red SS, dished rookie tips for slow cooking, AND delivered the SS to my house the next town over!

Even my wife is excited, since I "won't spend all my time on Craigslist anymore." Or so she thinks...  ;D

Here's the happy family:

Chad's a good guy.    Nice pick up.  Is that an 18.5 Sam Adams in the pic?

That's great! Time to update that signature. It's looking a little light. ;)

Glad that grill went to a good home.  Some or all of it has resided with Peaspurple, me, and Bman.  It will serve you well, for sure.

Hope to see you at a meetup sometime soon, my friend.

...and Bman is much nicer to have around when he's in 'liquidation', rather than 'acquisition' mode.  When he's on his game, it's tough to find a kettle anywhere in the DC/NoVA/MD area.  ;-)

(I'm in Falls Church, btw. If you ever need an agent, PM me and I'll do my best to help out.)

Sweet Red SS!!!
What's the charQ like? Is it for grilling or can you slow cook with it too?
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Thanks for the shout-out, John.  Looks like the family is growing nicely.  ;)
And much like Hogsy's signature line, which your wife already knows, but you're 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers  lol
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

I've never tried anything slow with the Char Q. Indirect grilling is actually pretty easy, though, since the grilling surface area is surprisingly large. The other notable on the Q is that the coals are situated closer to the grates than the kettle setup, so I've gotten pretty good at playing with the vents.

It's bittersweet relegating the Q to a reserve role, but I'm super excited to put the red SS and copper Sam to work!

That is a beautiful copper Sam Adams!  Chad is a great guy.  Hooked me up with some wood (cherry and hickory if I remember correctly).

Yep, saw that Chad.  Unfortunately I've got a hell of a busy week and can't get up there anytime soon to snag it.  Wish it were closer.
