Tinkering.....I love it!
« on: May 30, 2014, 07:36:38 PM »
I needed an elevated platform for a planned cook as I needed a slow sear on some pork belly. So I went to the Weber stockpile and got cracking.

Did I mention it is a multi-level Elevator?  Well it is! Gentleman, choose your rate of sear please.

Thanks guys. It scrubbed up OK.  All it needs now is some heat and oil to season.

Nice job!!! I have a few extra grates hanging around, that I could use for that.

How did you remove the rust? I just bought some Bar Keeper's Friend to try out on some old grates. But it would be nice to know what others are doing.

I use a wire wheel that is fitted on my bench grinder.

Same here, wire wheel in a hand held grinder. Does magic in minutes! Use caution and follow all safety rules, protective gear, etc.  Parts go flying, and it gets ugly fast.
