Kettle karma is alive and well.
« on: May 26, 2014, 01:15:33 PM »
Several months ago, my buddy Bman offered to do a bowl/lid swap between my red SS and one he was planning to sell.  His has a ratty frame and a pristine bowl, and he knows my bowl and lid are a bit scarred.  But because he lives about 30 miles from me, I've been dragging my feet on making the trip.

But he was going to be home on Memorial Day and I wasn't doing much, so I cleaned up my bowl/lid, grabbed an extra ash can and ring I have gathering dust, and made plans for a mid-day trip.

Well wouldn't you know that something was in the air, as Chad texted me first thing this morning with a CL posting in my town.  Just a mile from me, in fact, was someone selling a few accessories for about 30 bucks.  A fish basket, barely-used chimney, pristine coal baskets, and a new Weber grill brush.  And right there in the corner of the photo was a brand-new warming rack.  Epic.

I texted the seller right then and there, and was able to pick up the stuff before driving to Bman's place.  Because thanks to the kindness of a nameless WKCer, I already have a warming rack, so I figured the new one would be a nice 'thank you' for Bman's generosity (and patience).  But kettle karma being what it is, he upped the ante and sent me home with this gorgeous specimen, still in the box and sealed in plastic.  So sweet:

And we were both ogling the back of the box, where we saw another cool accessory.  Has anyone ever seen a 'charcoal chest'?

Brian was given a charcoal chest by me, I found it at an estate sale last summer. Not sure if he still owns it.

That sidekick table is awesome, and nice find on the accessories.

Are the warming racks no longer produced?? I'm pretty sure there are 2 brand new ones hiding at my local hardware store if anyone's trying to track one down.

This one:

Edit: Now I'm second guessing myself - might have been a condiment rack. I'll take a look next time I'm by...

Bman made me promise I would do what he hadn't: take the table out of the plastic.

If that is the case if love to have one. Actually I'd take either the warming or the condiment rack. Let me know if you stop by.

After being introduced to said pineapple upside cake at last summers WeberFest (cooked on the same Red OT+ if I recall) it's only fitting this would be the initial cook for the Sidekick.  Good stuff today!
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

:o That looks amazing! any chance you'd be willing to share this pineapple upside down cake recipe?

The first pic with the pineapple rings looks like a weber product shot!

If that is the case if love to have one. Actually I'd take either the warming or the condiment rack. Let me know if you stop by.

Here she is... you have a pm on the way!
