Cue the Sanford and Son music
I've been looking for some horseshoes for a while now and finally scored some on CL .
I had a hard time finding the house , it was in an area near a college and as I turned onto this unmarked street on a beautiful day right before my eyes are at least 20-30 girls laying out all over the lawns of this townhouse complex, their in bikinis enjoying the sun and cold beers despite it only bring lunch time
I ask if its the right street and oh I don't know 6-7 babes approach my truck and ask who I'm looking for ? I give them the name and I'm in the right place .......I mean I'm really in the right place
Suddenly someone's mom pops out ....fantasy on pause for a moment .
She asks if I'm here for the shoes and I hand her the cash , she explains the girls are moving, schools over for the summer and would I be interested in anything else , I said possibly ? But I only have a little cash with me. We walk around the side and there's a pile of stuff .first thing I spot is a weber gasser , but it doesn't look right . I open the lid and it's been painted from red to flat black but the burner tubes and bars are in great shape with cast iron grill grates plus a full tank of propane . I also see a kettle that looks brand new a 22 black ( AA) , I open it and it's cooked on maybe once . So I ask what she'd take for the grills and she says take what you want , free .
So now I've got two grills, horseshoes , girls in bikinis with beers and if I would have had some steaks with me I'd probably be divorced right now .
I start loading up and some others girls approach me with golf clubs, nice sets too
you want these ? Sure ....I can't say no to scantly clad coeds and before I know it I'm loaded up with stuff .
I get all the load secured , take one more look across the lawn as to burn the image in my mind forever and drive away . What now ? I don't want all the stuff ..so
I have a buddy with a junk hauling business , he keeps a retail yard, I opt to go there and unload some stuff . He looks at the clubs and some other stuff and agrees to trade , I spot a big ole box of split wood, it says cherry for BBQ and a slicer looking device that has blades on it like a kitchen aid slicer attachment , it's marked Duncan Hines . I thought to myself , when did Duncan Hines make appliances , this might be cool . I make the trade and away I go with 2 grills , a 30 pound box of wood , a slicer I think is old and of course the horseshoes to which I paid $20.00 for .
Turns out the Duncan Hines Slicer is from 1955 and worth 40-60 dollars on E-bay , my buddy had it marked for $2.00 and is pissed he didn't notice the name and research it , I'll probably give it back to him to be cool .
Cooked on the kettle last night , it's found a home and the gasser will help with another restore I'm doing.
The best $20.00 I ever spent
Hope you enjoyed the story .
