NIB 1973 Red Weber Kettle...
« on: May 17, 2014, 08:52:57 AM »
After "sitting" on this grill for 5 months I finally decided to put it together.   This grill was purchased by the seller's uncle for the seller's grandfather as a gift (along with a NIB work table). The  grandfather passed away shortly after receiving the gifts (he never got a chance to open the boxes).  The gifts sat in the uncle's basement unused for 40 years.  Last December the uncle decided to downsize and sell the items.

This is the first time I assembled the grill. I may place it back in the box (not sure)... :)

You really need to put that back in the box. Then put that box in another box. Slide a shipping label on it and send it to me.

Harris - I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm curious how you pinned this grill as a 1973?
The wide vent tabs on the bowl is why I'm asking.
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

That's a thing of beauty. I feel bad for her, though. All those years of neglect, never getting to do the one thing she's always dreamt of. Let 'er cook! ;-)

The seller and I were going by the time frame of his grandfather's birthday and passing (birth date - late 1973 and passing - early 1974).

Ah, that makes sense.  So this lid vent is engraved with the BBQ  lettering then?  There seems to be a period where the bowl sports wide turn tabs and the lid is still engraved before they switched to the elongated B stamping.

I'm just trying to learn this shit as we go along.  :)
