Pulled pork
« on: May 05, 2014, 11:51:00 AM »
I bbq’d a pulled pork the other weekend. Started out by browning it then putting it into a tin with pulled pork starter sauce.
Here are the pictures. Yes the cat has input on quality control of the BBQ (haha).

That’s it I hope you enjoy my photos

What cut of meat gets me pulled pork? My wife brought home a boneless pork rib roast and just figured it would pull apart. It was more like a ham. It's time we start learning this stuff, now that we suddenly have a couple kettles & WSM!

You need a pork shoulder - boston butt or picnic cut. Either one makes great pulled pork. The picnic cut may take more effort to prep, but not much.

Thanks MartyG for answering the meat type question from AnakiMana.

AnakiMana after I browned the meat I put it in the tin and covered it in tin foil. Yes you should bbq this cut of meat it is great meal.

I want to thank everyone for looking and your comments.

Total cook time was from 6 hours, only 1 hour to brown the sides and to add smoke.

Pulled Pork Burritos!  That is going to be my new Pulled Pork delivery vehicle, replacing sliders.

Nice cook - interesting how you did it.  I usually go 225 for 12 hours (which is a pain to time with dinner plans).  You got the same result in half the time!  Going to have to give this a try, thanks for the idea.

Winz,
Just put the maverick thermometer probe on the grill and set a timer for every 30 minutes to check kettle temp tried to keep it around 250 or below. Had to adjust the openings as I went but not to bad a way to cook.

Yes the Pulled Pork Burritos/Tacos where delicious and yes can have the sliders another day also.

 Looks Grate !!!

So, you brown the outside, then pan it with the sauce, covered to braise & it gets a much shorter cook time.......good deal !!!!

1buckie,
Thanks for wrapping up how I did my pulled pork in a nut shell. I'm working on how I do my write ups.
