Help with Ash Bar for '96 Performer

Picked up a decent Green SS Performer today on Craigslist for $50.  Should clean up nice and look real good next to her SS Blue brother.  Picked it up, got it home and realized that the ash catcher could not be reattached, and the way of attaching it was much different than my other SS Performer and Kettles.

After some quick research I found that Weber re-engineered the ash catcher around 2001 I think and that they no longer offer replacement parts for this older style.  The "bar" is rusted out and shot.  Anybody got any ideas/advice on where you can track one of these down or if there are aftermarket options?  Or maybe there's a way to modify the new ash ring assembly to the older units?

Here's some pics of what I'm working with.  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I and others can vouch for zavod44's new aluminum bar.

But if I'm not mistaken, you'll also probably need to replace the ash sweepers, Weber part# 7409, and those are running very scarce.

Or can the later (current) ash sweepers be used with the older ashcan holder ring setup?
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

My 7409 ash sweepers are on their way.
