Weber 26 inch
« on: December 30, 2018, 02:10:53 PM »
I'm seriously considering buying a 26 inch.  I have a heavily modded 22 inch which I absolutely love but I really desire the extra real estate.On my 22 inch, I added the following:
Slow N Sear;
Probe Port;
BBQ Guru Viper fan;
Fireboard thermometer;
Weber Rotisserie;
Rib-O-Lator.

Right now, I have 2 chickens in my 22 inch and I really had to squeeze them in tight. I'm thinking, it'll be easier with a 26 inch.  I use my kettle a couple of times a week (including winter).  I mainly cook for me and my wife.  So, based on this, I'm wondering if the 26 is overkill.

Also, is controlling the temperature the same on the 26 as it is on the 22?  Really if I do buy the 26, I plan on drilling a hole so that I can add the BBQ Guru Viper Fan.
I've read guys complain that the legs on the 26 is suspect.  Are there any other issues that I would need to worry about IF I bought a 26?

The wife asked, why do I need another Weber Kettle?  What can the 26 do that the 22 can't.  And I also have a Camp Chef Pellet grill. My answer is: Just because...For the same reason she has dozens of shoes...lol

So what do you all say?

I own a 26 and love it . You can do whatever you want but itís very handy for long cooks plus u can put an ass load of meat on it !  Look around for a used one. I found mine for 100 on letgo and itís like brand new . I donít have any issues with the legs on mine . I also am extra careful when moving it because the sucker weighs a ton.
But yes..... go for it ! Lol

Get it.  You wonít regret it.  I love the extra real estate.  My 22s are fine for my family of four, but if I do a whole kettle meal or have an extra guest, itís my go to.  Itís also my favorite for packer brisket; no contorting it in my 18 WSM.

I think the 26" is totally worth it. Here's a link of me cooking 2 chickens. I could have actually did 3 but I only needed 2.

I am firing up my 26.75" kettle tomorrow after a long hiatus using only my 22."

Spinning 4 birds (yes two rounds of two) with the Cajun Bandit rotisserie.

Man, I can't wait!

Having a 26" in your arsenal is great.  Comes in handy when cooking for 4 to 6 people.  I can't fit enough chicken thighs on a single 22" to feed 6 people. Least not the folks I have over.

I have found the lids on a 26" kettle are extremely heavy.   When moving a 26"er, carry the lid in one hand and drag or push the bowl with the other.  This removes the majority of the weight and stress from both the legs and the front bowl handle.

Dude, I LOVED THAT VIDEO...
Last night I squeezed 2 large birds onto my 22".  Yes, they do fit but it was a tight squeeze.

I can easily cook 4 rotisserie chickens all at once on a 22.

Also with room for sides if need be.

Or up to a dozen ribs. Try that on a 26.
