My name is Chris I purchased a kettle today at an estate sale for 25$ could someone please help me to figure out the year? Also are these worth money?? I just have always lived Weber grills and when I seen this one it said vintage so I drove over and swooped it up. I'm very excited to start grilling and hello to everyone. Thanks in advance for the help 😁

Worth $26. Just kidding I'm not into vintage kettles so don't haven't any idea the value or age. All i know it's a  rare color and older than me. Too bad it's a bit rough. I'm sure some of the experts will chime in soon.

Welcome to the Forum @Clitt1385   Wow. Talk about making a debut.  You just joined the elite Wood Dale club with this purchase. You will see the lid vent has Wood Dale, Ill on it. That is when Weber was based in Wood Dale.  You have a very much sought after kettle there. Congratulations and enjoy.  Hope you stick around. Some really great information and people here. Where you from?

Wow really?? I knew it was a special weber, but I though it was just because it was steel and the handles were steel. I knew it was old but had no clue. Thanks for all the info! Is it a particular year?

Oh ok I downloaded the link. So it's a '62 holy cow! I'm only 32 years old myself. Almost twice as old as me! Lol again thanks for all the Info I'm gonna clean her up. I'd like to get some touch up paint. Also it's missing the bolts for the legs but I'm sure I can find those. I'll keep you posted 😁

Your kettle has a porcelain enamel coating. It is not paint but powdered glass that is baked onto the metal in 1000+ degree ovens. Any touch up paint, even high temp type will turn dark over time if your going to cook on the grill. Here is a restoration thread with some tips on restoring one of these old kettles. I just use #0000 steel wool to remove all the rust then apply some olive oil to the bare metal with a Q Tip. Once heated it seasons the metal and prevents further rust.
