Title: Performer SS Restomod finished
Post by: vader06 on July 03, 2013, 04:57:07 PM
Well after three weeks of working on my Performer and I am finished.  There is a pretty good story here.  This performer has been restored twice.  After the first time not a week later after I  finished it my sister backed into with her vehicle.  Needless to say she hit it real hard.  The grill was knocked over and partial ran over.  Yeah......    My sister felt really bad and she told me she would buy me a new grill.  I didn't exactly want a new grill.   I wanted a SS Performer.    So my sister told me to get the parts that I needed and she would pay for it.  I ordered some new parts and got some square tubing for the leg connectors from a metal fabricator.  And Thanks to Ted B I have a Charcoal bin and wheel axle that I used for this.  The whole kettle and ashcan are new.   I used stainless steel hardware to put it all together.

I put vinyl caps on the ends of the rack to keep from scratching the frame.

Looks a lot better with a wood handle I had laying around.

My sister is not allowed to park on my driveway anymore.

That is breathtaking, vader.  Excellent work!

I love those vinyl caps, too.  Where did you get them?

Hell's bells Vader, that came out great!

Nice touches on the handle and vinyl tips. Good call.

Wow, I can honestly say that is the nicest performer I have ever seen. I like the new lid thermo with the old frame, and of course the handle. Only thing i might change would be to paint the ash pan black like they did a couple years back. Seriously, though, gorgeous.

I got them at Ace Hardware.  They were very cheap.

Looks really good. Wow is that clean. I like the lid thermo. I want to install one in mine. Glad it's back up and running. Doing what it's meant to do.

Very nice performer.  I am smoking 2 chickens right now on my black SS performer.  There are at 175 internal. About to pull them.  Using the wire char baskets which came with my performer.
