Replacing the one touch cleaning system on my “R” kettle I noticed some holes around where the legs attach. I don’t suppose there’s any way to fix this?

The problem with nuts and washers is the cleaning wings need to pass over them. Here’s a picture from my other kettle.

apply some “extend” rust treatment - follow directions- afterwards apply bondo from the outside to fill the holes - sand and repaint ( high heat paint ) inside should remain smooth

My bad.  I’ve never had to fix holes on a one touch. 

I’ve had good luck with JB Weld to fill holes on the outside of kettles.

If it’s a black kettle I would just replace it. Used or new.

Or I wouldn’t worry about the holes and put it back together and use it. Let the grease fill in the holes.

Put some blue painters tape over the holes on the inside of the bowl.  Buy some high heat JB Weld then fill the holes from the outside of the bowl. Once dry, pull off the tape and the ash sweeps should move over the repaired area with no issues. If they do catch at all on the repaired  areas, you can sand down any high spots of the JB Weld.

That’s probably the plan by default. Maybe keep my eyes open for a replacement.

Still works fine, no issues with pork chops the other night.
